For those who have placed an order on Residential Proxies, there will be a concern about how you calculate data usage, and why the data usage you calculate is different from mine.

Here is our explanation:

Both upstream and downstream traffic will be calculated in your data usage(traffic amount), because, from our perspectives, considering both upstream and downstream traffic is more accurate for us to calculate your data usage on each of your online activities.

Upstream traffic and downstream traffic refer to the two directions of data transmission in a network:

Upstream traffic refers to the amount of data sent from the user's device to the network, while downstream traffic refers to the amount of data sent from the network to the user's device.

The calculation of traffic for normal access to a webpage typically includes two parts:

  1. Downstream traffic: The user's device downloads webpage content from the internet, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, videos, etc.

  2. Upstream traffic: If the user fills out forms, uploads files, or interacts with the webpage, there will be a certain amount of upstream traffic, meaning the user's device sends data to the server.
